FES Namibia and Fesmedia Africa hosts partners' engagement and reception and launch a new website on Reconciliation
The partners' engagement and reception event took place on Thursday, 15 February 2024, at the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung offices at number 95 John Meinert Street, Windhoek West.
This year’s partners’ engagement is unique and quite significant for many reasons. The event doubled up as a farewell to the outgoing Director and Representative of FES Namibia and Fesmedia Africa, Ms. Freya Gruenhagen, and a welcoming gala for her successor, Mr. Hajo Lanz who leaves his role as the Director of FES Geneva to head the offices in Namibia.
The main aim of the event was for FES Namibia and Fesmedia Africa to forge new and cement existing partnerships for advisory work and dialogue on the importance of access to information in strengthening social justice, democratic participation, and reconciliation for a more just, inclusive, and prosperous Namibia, as well as other working lines and themes covered by the FES and partners.
The slogan "Namibia's Past - We Hear You" says it all: the new website Dialogue-on-Namibias-Past.org aims to promote dialogue in Namibia about our past, more precisely: the German colonial era. By providing reliable information about events and developments in Namibia's colonial history and its international context.
The website Dialogue-on-Namibias-Past.org is a partnership project of the Namibia Institute for Democracy (NID) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES Namibia).
